The witness industry

Ian Mulgrew sez:
For the last decade, the B.C. legal community has been searching for an answer to the problem of what one judge labelled "an advocate thinly disguised in the cloak of an expert."

In other words, doctors or other specialists called as expert witnesses -- frequently for large amounts of money -- who tailor their evidence to support one side or the other of a lawsuit.
Working hard, getting a degree, and spending all your time in court making a mockery of the process: priceless.
