Check it out. A bit long, but well worth the read.In the last two years the health authority served Jongerden with two cease and desists and the courts eventually charged her with contempt of court for continuing to distribute milk to the depots. She resigned as manager of Home on the Range. But the courts still found her guilty of contempt on Dec. 2.
The raw milk movement did not succumb. Instead it accelerated, and last week, on Jan. 20, Jongerden raised the fight to a new level, filing a constitutional challenge to the Supreme Court of B.C. that, were it to succeed, would change the public health act, and open the door to a legal raw milk industry.
How did British Columbia become ground zero in the battle over where the government belongs when it acts to get between what's raised on a farm, and what goes into people's bodies?

Milk Wars

Another attack on our freedom under the guise of food safety. As for British Columbia's track record in this area, it just keeps getting worse. I learned from our sheep association that the provincial government is in the process of drafting yet more regulations under the guise of food safety, a few of which are: that every producer with livestock, no matter what the number, will have to register his farm at his own cost. It does not end there, since it will also give bureaucrats the right to invade any such farm anytime they so choose. I keep hoping to see a blogger bring this latest infringement on freedom to light. One need not be a farmer or livestock producer to understand the issue.

I LOVE IT when the pontificating blowhards of the judiciary think they can order people around and then those same "little people" turn around and tell the courts to go f$$k themselves.
You can cast down all the blustering pronouncements you want from your ivory tower but if people don't feel like obeying then it's all just hot air.
Alaindh - I'd be happy to do something on those new regulations. I haven't heard anything about that - I'd love to highlight them. Maybe drop me an email at dresdenmorrow[at]gmail.com?

Damn straight.
I have forwarded by e-mail the information I received concerning the latest livestock regulations. I trust you received it. The computer had a mind of its own when I first commented since it added dh to my name. Thanks for the offer.
Whoops - hi Alain. Thanks for forwarding that email to me - I got it this morning. I haven't delved too deeply into it yet, but I really want to get into those new regulations when I can.
